Caroline Rowntree

I studied at St. Martins School of Art in London, England  and spent many years as a graphic designer in Montreal and New York. I moved to Columbus five years ago and have returned to painting and printmaking full time.

The important body of American design that is the patchwork quilt, has always fascinated me. My paintings have evolved from using the surface, pattern and forms of these cultural icons to a purer, simpler exploration of color in space. Currently I am working on prints conceived on the computer from landscapes that I have photographed. These prints are archival and are in editions of 25.
